Research Interests

My research interests focus on the structure, hydrogeology, and hydrothermal circulations of volcanoes, with a particular emphasis on volcanic islands and monogenetic volcanic fields. I employ and develop methodologies primarily based on near-surface geophysics, often within the framework of multidisciplinary field-based studies. Since 2022, I have expanded my research themes to include innovative hydrogeophysics methods, specifically the Induced Polarization method, in diverse fields such as natural hazards, archaeology, and civil engineering (dams and embankments structural integrity).

One of my main and broad areas of interest revolves around underground imaging, involving quantifying physical underground parameters such as water content, porosity, and clay content. My focus is on applying this knowledge to tackle questions related to volcanic structures and hazards, and contribute to volcano monitoring efforts, with particular attention to flank instability and magma/water interactions. Furthermore, I explore the thematics of water resources in both volcanic and non-volcanic regions.

By combining these research interests, I aim to enhance our understanding of volcanic processes, improve hazard assessment and mitigation strategies, and contribute to sustainable water resource management.
