The GEO3BCN-CSIC Seismic Facility is composed by two main sections, the Data Acquisition Pool and the Seismic Processing Center. The Data Acquisition Instrumentation Pool includes seismic equipments intended to be used in temporary deployments. Up to 90 broad-band and 36 short period seismic acquisition systems are available to allow managing both short-term active seismic profiling and long-term passive seismic deployments.
The Seismic Processing Center is equipped with eight main servers devoted to calculus, management of storage systems, data distribution, near real- time data acquisition and databases/web integration. Up to 218 Tb of disk space are available. The Seismic Laboratory features connectivity with the Barcelona Supercomputing Center and has research relationships with other computation, processing, interpretation and modelling facilities such as GEOMODELS (University of Barcelona) and the Barcelona Center for Subsurface Imaging.

Data Acquisition Instrumentation Pool
The Data Acquisition Pool includes seismic equipments intended to be used in temporary deployments. Broad-band and short period seismic acquisition systems are available to allow managing both short-term active seismic profiling and long-term passive seismic deployments.
a) Broad-Band portable seismic instrumentation
- 29 Broad-band seismic stations composed by Trillium 120s sensors and Taurus digitizers, both from Nanometrics. Each station includes auxiliary material (memory cards, 36 Ah batteries, 2 x 18W solar panels) and transport case.
- 11 seismic stations composed by Taurus dataloggers and Trillium Compact sensors.
- 12 seismic stations composed by WorldSensing Spidernano dataloggers and Trillium Compact sensors.
- 38 additional seismic stations from the TopoIberia-IberArray pool are also managed by our Institute. These equipment are composed by Trillium 120s sensors and Taurus digitizers.
b) Short period portable seismic instrumentation
- 36 short period sensors (Geospace Mini SeisMonitor 2 Hz) and autonomous dataloggers (Spidernano).
- The software includes academic, commercial and in house developments. A short list includes:
- Claritas Seismic Processing Software developed by GlobeClaritas, New Zealand.
- SeisUnix Academic seismic processing software developed by the Colorado School of Mines.
- Opendtect Open Source Seismic Interpretation System developed by dGB Earth Sciences.
- FreeUSP is a collection of signal analysis and seismic processing routines originally written at Amoco Production Company's Tulsa Research Center over the last nearly 40 years. This legacy is being offered in open source by BP America Inc. in the hopes that it may foster education, understanding and collaboration amongst the world wide signal analysis community.
- SEPLIB The Stanford Exploration Project SEP included highly specialized software for migration imaging, velocity estimation, dip moveout and slant stack. Presently it is focus in developing 3-D seismic applications such as velocity estimation, wavefield-continuation prestack migration, multidimensional image estimation, and 4-D (time-lapse) reservoir monitoring.
- PETREL The Schlumberger Petrel E&P Software Platform helps increase reservoir performance by improving asset team productivity. Geophysicists, geologists, and reservoir engineers can develop collaborative workflows and integrate operations to streamline processes.
- Madagascar Open-source software package for multidimensional data analysis and reproducible computational experiments
- SAC The Seismic Analysis Code is a general purpose interactive program designed for the study of sequential signals, especially timeseries data. Emphasis has been placed on analysis tools used by research seismologists in the detailed study of seismic events.
- PASSCAL is a general software for downloading, quality checking and format conversion of passive seismology data.
- ObsPy Open-source project dedicated to provide a Python framework for processing seismological data. It provides parsers for common file formats and seismological signal processing routines which allow the manipulation of seismological time series.
- Rayinvr Collection of programs for 2-D traveltime inversion and amplitude modeling.
