Una treintena de ponentes participaron en las II Jornadas de Investigación del Parque Natural del Alt Pirineu, que se celebraron en Burg entre el 2 y el 4 de mayo. Entre los asistentes al encuentro estaban Conxi Ayala y Pilar Clariana, investigadoras del IGME. Conxi Ayala (científica titular visitante en el ICTJA-CSIC) realizó la presentación del proyecto GEOPIRI3D del que es IP y que se lleva a cabo de forma coordinada con el proyecto SIMPROP.

La presentación de Ayala era la continuación de la comunicación que previamente había llevado a cabo la también Pilar Clariana. Clariana centró su presentación en los aspectos geològicos (estratigrafía y estructura) de esta parte de los Pirineos cuyo conocimiento es básico para la posterior modelización de cortes geológicos con técnicas geofísicas, tarea que se desarrolla dentro del GEOPIRI3D y que es base en la relación con el proyecto SIMPROP. 

Ayala centró su intervención en los detalles ligados  ligados a la perspectiva geofísica de esta investigación que tiene como objetivo modelizar en 2.5D y 3D la estructura regional y estudiar la evolución cinemática y las propiedades físicas de los cuerpos graníticos Permo-Carboníferos del Pirineo catalán.

Las dos presentaciones estaban inscritas en un programa configurado por un total de 27 comunicaciones. El objetivo de estas jornadas era dar a conocer las últimas novedades de las investigaciones realizadas en el ámbito del Parque en los últimos años desde campos como la geología, la hidroquímica, la ecología forestal o la zoología entre muchos otros. El encuentro pretendía dar valor a  la investigación científica llevada a cabo hasta ahora y obtener así un mejor conocimiento del medio natural y cultural del parque para mejorar la gestión, la divulgación y la interpretación de dicho espacio

Los asistentes pudieron visitar durante el transcurso del encuentro el estanque y la turbera de la Coma de Burg y el Bosque de Virós, dos espacios en los que actualmente se están llevando a cabo diferentes estudios.

Fue en el año 2004 cuando se celebró la primera edición de estas jornadas que, en aquel momento, sirvieron para poner en común el conocimiento acumulado hasta ese momento y, en especial,aquel que era considerado clave para la gestión y planificación del nuevo espacio protegido que fue declarado parque natural en 2003.

Se prevé que las III jornadas de Investigación se realicen en 2023, coincidiendo con la celebración del 20º aniversario de la creación del Parque Natural del Alt Pirineu.
