The 6th edition of the Geosciences Barcelona Photo Contest has been held this 2020. The 12 most voted photographs were announced last 23rd of december during the GEO3BCN Winter Activity, which was held online.

 Cristina Biete took  top honors for her picture of the the Paine's Hornes. This is the second time that Biete wins this contest since she wa salso the winner of the 2018 edition. Biete's picture, which collected a total of 216 points in the popular voting process, will be the cover image of the Geociencias Barcelona Annual Report 2020 as a main recognition.

The other most voted images were: a picture of the Dettifoss cascade in Iceland taken by Daniel García-Castellanos (176 points) and a picture of a sulphurous lake from the Afar region in Ethiopia taken by Ramon Carbonell (169 points).

These three pictures will be printed and displayed all the 2021 year in the Office room of the Institute and will be featured in the GEO3BCN-CSIC institutional calendar allong with the other 9 most voted pictures.

26 pictures were submitted to the 2020 of the GEO3BCN-CSIC Photo Contest  which has been held since 2015 and is open to all Geosciences BArcelona staff members.

The popular voting process was carriied out last november and all the staff members were able to qaulify the competing pictures.
