El Consejo Superior de Investigaciones Científicas (CSIC) ha firmado un acuerdo de colaboración con el ayuntamiento de Olot a través de Espai Cràter, con el objetivo de desarrollar líneas de investigación y proyectos centrados en el ámbito de la vulcanología y del patrimonio cultural y natural.

La firma del convenio ha tenido lugar este jueves 21 de octubre en el Saló de Sessions de l’Ajuntament d’Olot y ha contado con la presencia del actual director de Geociencias Barcelona (GEO3BCN-CSIC), Joan Martí, y del alcalde de Olot, Pep Berga.

Tanto Espai Cràter como Geociencias Barcelona tienen interés en divulgar la ciencia y la actividad científicas, así como acercar al conjunto de la sociedad las Geociencias y, más en particular, la vulcanología. Con esta firma se refuerza las garantías para realizar actividades de investigación museísticos y elaborar material divulgativo. Martí es el comisario principal de la exposición sobre vulcanismo que se podrá ver en Espai Cràter una vez se inaugure el centro.

Espai Crater es un proyecto que ya está en marcha en la ciudad de Olot y que tiene el objetivo de establecerse como un nuevo centro de volcanes. Este espacio explicará el fenómeno vulcanológico, así como el patrimonio natural y cultural de la Garrotxa y, por tanto, tomará el relevó del actual Museo de volcanes de la ciudad de Olot, que ha realizado este trabajo desde el año 1991.

Primera Setmana de la Vulcanologia

Uno de los primeros ejemplos de colaboración entre el Ayuntamiento de Olot y el CSIC ha tenido lugar esta semana, del 15 al 21 de octubre, con la celebración de la Semana de la Vulcanología, organizada por Espai Cràter. Esta primera edición ha estado comisariada por el director de GEO3BCN-CSIC y ha contado con la participación de los vulcanólogos de Olot Xavier de Bolós y Llorenç Planaguma, así como de cinco geólogos internacionales provenientes de México, Islandia y Portugal: Antonio Brum, Ármann Höskuldsson, Joan Adújar, Gerardo de Jesús Aguirre y Bruno Scaillet. Durante esta semana se han sucedido varias actividades divulgativas: seminarios abiertos al público, salidas de campo con la ciudadanía de Olot y también actividades formativas para los centros educativos de la zona.

La celebración de la semana de la vulcanología ha coincidido con la novena edición del cuso de posgrado internacional de vulcanología, que organiza la Fundación de Estudios Superiores de Olot y la Fundación Universitat de Girona y la estancia de cinco especialistas en vulcanología en la residencia Faberllull de Olot. De hecho, el acuerdo firmado entre el CSIC y Espai Crater permitirá integrar este curso de posgrado.
