Jaume Vergés' research focusses on: a) tectonics and sedimentation mostly related to fold-and-thrust belts and adjacent foreland basins (Pyrenees, Iberian Range and Betic-Rif system in Spain, Precordillera in Andes of Argentina and Bolivia Fold Belt, La Popa Basin in Mexico and NW Cuba Fold Belt, Polish Carpathians, Zagros in Kurdistan and in Iran, Kopet Dagh in Iran, N Tarim Basin in China); and b) relationships between surficial and deep seated processes with ongoing investigation in Spain (NE corner of the Iberian Peninsula, in the Ebro-Duero conecting zone, and Atlantic Margin); Western Mediterranean and Norway (Vøring and Møre margins).
